The PDOS curriculum needs to be revised ‘to reduce, if not eradicate, the vulnerability of our OFWs (overseas Filipino workers) to abuses and for them to be fairly competitive.’Gatchalian
Alay Buhay Representative Weslie Gatchalian filed House Bill 5662, seeking to amend RA 8042 or the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995, recommending module revisions to the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS).
In Wallem Maritime Services, Inc. (WMSI), we are proud to state that we have long been conducting an enhanced PDOS that includes the prescribed modules of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), most of the revisions being recommended by Representative Gatchalian, and other organisational topics relevant to our business processes. This enhanced seminar was developed through a continual improvement committee that considered even the suggestions gathered from seafarers themselves.
Current prescribed PDOS module no longer relevant? Representative Weslie Gatchalian thinks so. http://t.co/bhUhI4tneq
